Hi Everyone! I am Kimberly (Kim) Young and I’m very excited that you are here visiting my blog. I look forward to us getting to know each other.
Let me give you a little info about me. I am a wife of 32 years to my high school sweetheart Mark, mom to our two “boys” (Sean 29 and Logan 22), daughter, sister and auntie. Since 1996, we have lived in a small town about 25 miles south of Pittsburgh, PA. I love every minute this part of my life and would not change anything at all. In 2003, after working as a paralegal for 13 years, I decided to go to law school and now, for almost 13 years, I have been a practicing attorney in the area of government compliance. When I tell people that I’m an attorney, they automatically think that I’m in a courtroom everyday like the attorneys on the TV courtroom dramas. That is not the case at this point in my life. While I did clerk for a judge right out of law school, now my job involves reviewing documents and creating proposal. Nothing very glamorous. My practice does keep me very busy, however I feel that with every passing year, a part of me that I loved continues to fade away.
What many people who know me now don’t realize is that I have always been a creative person. My parents always tell stories about how I would constantly have to be active and creating something…drawing, painting, crafting, coloring, crocheting, cooking, baking, writing…as well as enjoying outdoor activities. I do love change and am always trying to think of creative ways to change things up whether that is moving furniture, painting or buying new things for my home or myself. That brings me to my other interest which is shopping. I always try to find new items while always searching for the best deals. When holidays or birthdays roll around I am excited to find unique gifts for everyone on my list. I especially enjoy online shopping and receiving deliveries to my doorstep.
Prior to attending law school, I had time to continue these loves, but since I started working, all of these activities have been pushed aside so that I could work hard in order to succeed in my career. I can repeatedly hear my younger son saying to me about three years ago, “Mom all you do is work… you need to have a hobby.” After he said that to me, I played around with the idea of starting a blog but never actually took the leap until now. During 2020 (the year of the pandemic) I began working from home and as a result, I had extra time since I wasn’t spending 2-3 hours per day getting ready for and commuting to work. While the pandemic was terrible, it did help me realize that I DO need something more in my life. I feel that by having this blog, creating content and sharing life experiences of what I am doing/creating now, I will be able to reignite that creative side of my life and take you along for the ride. I look forward to connecting with all of you and hope that you take something away from this experience too!
